Any Parks and Rec fan will know that it's not officially 'the best day of the year' aka 'Treat Yo' Self' day until October 13th, but with social distancing putting a stop to a lot of the things we love, I think that it's important to remember to look after, and to treat ourselves to something nice every now and again.
Below I'll post a few of my favourite things, and some discount codes if you're interested in purchasing something yourself.
So lusting after "clothes, shoes, mimosas, fine leather goods..."? TREAT YO' SELF!
I'm still busy working (albeit from home), but with the money I've saved by not eating out a few times a week, buying merchandise at the many concerts I've had cancelled, and constantly popping into shops buying snacks I thought that I'd do something nice for myself.
Working for the NHS, a lot of brands are very kindly offering discounts at the moment - and if you work for the NHS, within the care industry, the emergency services or armed forces then sign up for a Blue Light Card. There you'll find discounts on clothing, white goods, hotels, cinema tickets - you name it!
NHS staff can also sign up to Health Service Discounts
And for teachers there's Discounts For Teachers
Lush
Baths are my #1 thing to do to relax.
Migraine? Have a bath. Bad day at work? Have a bath. Can't stand in the shower due to PoTS symptoms? Bath. And the best place to make that bath experience beautiful? Lush!
Anyone who follows me on Instagram will know how many of their bath bombs I get through!
Recently shut due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, Lush are back online taking orders, and with a whole host of new bubble bars to try. Bubble bars are a lot more cost-effective than the bombs as they can be used multiple times. They still smell amazing, just without the added razzmatazz and sparkle - but then again I'm sure there are many of you who would prefer not to bathe in glitter!
It's not just about baths though. Lush have a whole host of products that can make staying at home feel not-so-bad - from their face masks, to their famous Sleepy body lotion to their massage bars - let me know what your favourites are!
And any long-term-Lushies will remember the Lush Kitchen - a sometimes weekly drop of new and exclusive products - and they're back! This time with a monthly subscription box.
Bloom & Wild
We might not be able to enjoy the outside right now, but we can still bring the outside in. Bloom & Wild are a brand I've seen people post about for a while now, and I purchased my first bunch of letter-box-flowers for mothers day. That's right folks! You can get these babies delivered contact-free in the post.
They're a brilliant gift to send to a loved one - or to send to yourself, with a beautiful selection of plants and flowers, and even subscription services to have weekly, fortnightly, or monthly flowers delivered.
They currently have 40% off for NHS staff with a Blue Light Card code, but anyone can receive £10 off of their first Bloom & Wild order by using my link: Bloom & Wild
Glossier
Glossier is one of my favourite brands. They're not the cheapest brand around, but they offer simple skin-care and subtle but fun make-up - and the pink pouches they send their products in can be used again and again!
When I first tried Glossier, their Milk Jelly Cleanser was like nothing I'd seen before. My eyes especially can be very sensitive to products, but I'm able to use this to remove my make-up without any issues!
Their Lash Slick mascara is my favourite for everyday use - not waterproof, but does not transfer - a problem I seem to have with every other mascara!
AND THE LIP BALMS! Birthday, Rose, Mango, Berry - even the plain old Original, I love these balms.
You can get 10% off at Glossier with my link.
Charlotte Tilbury
Expensive? Yes. Beautiful? Unquestionably.
I remember when this brand first launched - and the first thing I bought was the limited edition Bar of Gold Highlighter (which I still have and use today!). Cruelty-free, and with a section on their website with all of their vegan friendly products. This is the ultimate Treat Yo' Self.
Offering 20% off for NHS staff at the moment, but anyone can get £20 off a £100 (eek) spend with this link.
Birchbox
You'll be sent a selection of brands you love, and new brands to discover - these little boxes introduced me to the amazing Space Masks.
One of the other great things about Birchbox is that if you love something you've been delivered, you can buy more from their online store with a discount - and the longer you're a member, the higher your discount is.
So before I cancel, get £5 off your first box with this link.
